The Future of Royal Games
Hello Royal Gamers
Flash is going to disappear on December 31st 2020. It’s a difficult situation but the powers that be have decided that Flash has to go. We would love to be able to keep things running the way they were but it’s just not possible.
We are a very small crew of dedicated guys and gals that want the best for this site and for all of you that have stuck with us through thick and thin. Sadly, we have to make some changes to ensure we can keep things running and improving in 2021 and beyond.
HTML5 Games
We really wanted to convert all of the games but this has turned out to be far more complicated than we initially anticipated. So we took the hard decision to start converting the most popular games. For the beginning of 2021, the following (should) be the lineup of games moving forward.

Performance Issues in HTML5 Games
HTML5 can be more RAM and CPU intensive than Flash, which means older systems can struggle.
Trust me, I see everything! I hear the complaints and I am going to address them in 2021.
We are going to look at optimisation for HTML5 games in 2021. We are investigating RAM usage and aim to outline RAM requirements. This should give you all a better performance benchmark, but hopefully we can bring those requirements down in 2021. This is not going to be an overnight process however, so as per usual, I very much appreciate your patience.
Flash Games
What this means is we are going to be delisting the vast majority of our Flash games by the end of the year. This is not a decision we have taken lightly but it is our only choice. We can’t support these games if the browsers do not.
The shame is we lose a lot of classic games and no doubt some of our amazing long-term players, which is horrible. We hope you do stick around because we are always trying to think about the future and how we can improve things. My hope is that in 2021 we get to concentrate less on HTML5 (basically keeping the site alive) and more on bug fixes, improvements and new features.
Site Features
We are also porting over the Castle, Avatars, Spinners, Freeroll Spinners and all of the other little Flash Elements that make up the site. The aim is to also have this done by December 31st 2020. There is a small possibility that some elements might not be entirely finished, but we are working hard to make sure this does not happen.
Summary
So there it is! That is what is happening in its entirety. I have to reiterate, I wish we could have converted every game, but with all the will in the world it just could not happen. I know we are going to lose some of you and I completely understand. All I can say is thank you so much for being part of this site and creating one of the most unique gaming communities on the planet. I sincerely hope you do stay and that we continue to keep entertaining you for many more years to come.
Hi I'm a regular addict of CATS CORNER but the new HTML version is awful. there needs to be more definition of colours as its really difficult to decipheronce you get further up th levels...please can you look into this as if it stays the same as it is at the moment i won't be playing it..thank you
What systems do other games sites use?, I have no problems paying on other game sites - most not as fun as this site!! I'm having to stay in Lockdown until there is a vaccine - What am I going to play & where?!!
HTML5 is standard across the board. If you are running games in a browser in 2021, you are using HTML5 in some capacity.

Why can't you keep the Flash games until the end of December - Then just switch them off - lots of the HTML5 games don't work for me, only the ones with the coloured line across the bottom, The colours on Bubble SAga & Kalorie King are awful - Please think of the colour blind amongst us. SAD!
There are only six games I play regularly, three of which are free tournaments, could be 7 if Cat Corner gets rid of those awful colors...So it only leaves me with 3 games I would play for cash. Could easily get bored playing just those three :-/
It was originally developed so only cats could see it. All the feedback we got from the felines that run the website (and the world...) was positive. But we heard you and decided to optimise it for human vision. The cats have not stopped hissing since.

Sad to see so many games lost protem, I closed my original a/c "Formbypoint" because of the abuse I was experiencing on my home board but came back because I enjoyed the quality of the games. For those who miss the word games Alphabetty saga is great, managed all 920 levels for no cost, good luck.

Essentially, We are going to deactivate all of the games that are not on the list above. The games in the list will be the only games you will be able to play at the start of 2021.

Sadly no Christmas Calendar. I really wanted this one too, but we opted to try and convert as many games as we could instead. But we will do a Freeroll promotion with some of the old Flash games instead.
Just because flash is being not supported after this year ends does not mean it still won’t work leave the games that are not converted over yet and allow us to play them for money and free rolls until you’ve converted them. Windows 7 is not supported anymore but millions have it and still use it
It might still work but unfortunately it won't be secure enough from a technical perspective for us to be comfortable to keep it running. As we saw from the NHS Windows XP hack, the longer you keep running unsupported software, the easier it becomes for hackers to develop exploits for it. So its best practice to not use unsupported software or plugins in enterprise applications.

Will those of us with open Cup Tournaments be given entry-fee refunds?
Yes indeed. We are going to be working on a solution to close all unfinished cups. This was a weird quirk in the system that needs fixing. I am hoping we can do this in the first quarter of 2021.

It must be tough for you having to convert the games. Just wondering if the list above is final or more will be added? Since my favourite, Gospo's adventure, is not on there. I should be sad to see it go. Sigh.
I have read the post AND a number of comments, but I still don't know whether this list of games is all we are ever being given or whether there will be continued work on building additional games. I would be willing to stay around if I had hope that some of the other games might eventually return.
We are hoping to convert more games next year. Sadly, right now I can't confirm which ones and when.
