The Future of Royal Games

Hello Royal Gamers

Flash is going to disappear on December 31st 2020. It’s a difficult situation but the powers that be have decided that Flash has to go. We would love to be able to keep things running the way they were but it’s just not possible.

We are a very small crew of dedicated guys and gals that want the best for this site and for all of you that have stuck with us through thick and thin. Sadly, we have to make some changes to ensure we can keep things running and improving in 2021 and beyond.

HTML5 Games
We really wanted to convert all of the games but this has turned out to be far more complicated than we initially anticipated. So we took the hard decision to start converting the most popular games. For the beginning of 2021, the following (should) be the lineup of games moving forward.

I Love Treasure

Klondike Solitaire

Hoop de Loop

Pepper Panic

Monster Fever

Puff Fish Poppers

Beached Buddies

Gin Rummy

Princess Peony

Ace Solitaire(2012)

Bubble Witch

Candy Crush

Papa Pear

Farm King

Release the Creeps

Diamond Digger

Stitcheroo

Bubble Saga

Cat Corner

Golf Solitaire

Honey Mine

Mahjong Masquerade

Kalorie King

Klicker Fusion

Pet Rescue

Performance Issues in HTML5 Games
HTML5 can be more RAM and CPU intensive than Flash, which means older systems can struggle.

Trust me, I see everything! I hear the complaints and I am going to address them in 2021.

We are going to look at optimisation for HTML5 games in 2021. We are investigating RAM usage and aim to outline RAM requirements. This should give you all a better performance benchmark, but hopefully we can bring those requirements down in 2021. This is not going to be an overnight process however, so as per usual, I very much appreciate your patience.

Flash Games
What this means is we are going to be delisting the vast majority of our Flash games by the end of the year. This is not a decision we have taken lightly but it is our only choice. We can’t support these games if the browsers do not.

The shame is we lose a lot of classic games and no doubt some of our amazing long-term players, which is horrible. We hope you do stick around because we are always trying to think about the future and how we can improve things. My hope is that in 2021 we get to concentrate less on HTML5 (basically keeping the site alive) and more on bug fixes, improvements and new features.

Site Features
We are also porting over the Castle, Avatars, Spinners, Freeroll Spinners and all of the other little Flash Elements that make up the site. The aim is to also have this done by December 31st 2020. There is a small possibility that some elements might not be entirely finished, but we are working hard to make sure this does not happen.

Summary
So there it is! That is what is happening in its entirety. I have to reiterate, I wish we could have converted every game, but with all the will in the world it just could not happen. I know we are going to lose some of you and I completely understand. All I can say is thank you so much for being part of this site and creating one of the most unique gaming communities on the planet. I sincerely hope you do stay and that we continue to keep entertaining you for many more years to come.

  • SO ALL THE JEWELS WE HAVE COLLECTED W/ FLASH PLAYER GAMES ARE THEY GOING TO BE TRANSFEREDTO THE HTML GAMES OR DO WE LOSE OUR RANK & JEWELS? THIS IS REALLY SAD. GUESS IT'S TIME TO MOVE ON AFTER 8 YRS & NOT SEEING MY ROYAL FAMILY/FRIENDS WILL BE SAD. DIZ

  • I have noticed that my favourite game, gin rummy, HAS been converted but it is impossible to play because the cards turn so slowly that the time runs out about halfway through round one. Previously, if anything was running slowly then the time ran down slowly as well but not now :-(

  • I would certainly hope that the games that are not already converted to HTML-5 will be stashed, adapted, and gradually reintroduced. Imagine how happy the CUSTOMERS will be, when they see their favorite games reappear! I was very happy to see Hoop De Loop reappear, after an extended absence.

  • man all the games that made royalgames unique and fun are gone Word Battle !??? bathtub b&b goldfish bowl nut tails grrrr cant you guys make a special game set so we don't lose these classics and the games are gonna be homogenized with every other site !

  • @ Mrpupsy, they probably couldn't find any developers/programmers who would accept being paid in NWF ;)

  • I HAVE BEEN WITH YOU YRS, AND ALL THATS LEFT IS 3 GAMES OUT OF 5 I NORMALLY PLAY, YOU KNOW THAN MOST OF THE POOL PLAYERS AND 8 BALL WENT ACROSS TO THE YANK SITE BUTBEACHED BUDDIES AND ALL THE OTHER GIRLY GAMES ARE NOT FOR ME SO I WILL BE GONE IN DEC. THANKS ANYWAY

  • I THINK YOU SHOULD KEEP FLASH. I HAVE BEEN A PAID MEMBER FOR OVER 13 YEARS. I HAVE SEVERAL FRIENDS WHOM I PLAY HEARTS, DICEKING, BACKGAMMON, AND LUDO. WITHOUT FLASH I CAN NO LONGER PLAY THESE GAMES OR SEE MY FRIENDS. THIS MAKES ME VERY SAD

  • bearing in mind royal games makes money on every single game played no matter who wins or loses surely you should have invested in the future a lot lot earlier or is it got the money dont care

  • I will add my vote to keep Midas Majong. At least 3 of the games I play will still be available (out of 7). I also hate to see Spinball go - that was my ultimate favorite game. Oh well. Every good thing ultimately comes to an end.

  • Should have been the first to be converted, been by far the most played game on here, even more than many of the licenced games when they were around, and beating those games with artificial "popularity" because they appear as multiple freerolls.

  • Is there any way to save Midas Mahjong? I spend a lot of money there.

  • No Alphabetty or Magic Spin Ball(which lags badly now and has cost me rank and money)? With this list of HTML games, I guess I will be taking my money elsewhere. What a horrible company this is. Up yours Royalgames.com

  • I agree, Szuncke! It's fun to have friends to play games with. On other sites it's very solitary and there is no need to better your game in competition. The new games won't load for me on King, so I probably won't have a choice.

  • seeing other websites advertised in the comments, tut tut! There are plenty of games websites around, but I am a competitive player, I enjoy the thrill of putting a few pennies on the outcome of the game. That's what I'll miss most if I can't upgrade my laptop and therefor can't play html5.

  • It was a real eye-opener playing the games that both King and Pogo ran, the javascript versions on there made the flash ones here look embarrassing.

  • @tude, maybe in the States, the rest of us were forced to transfer there as they closed down the European sites. But did you play it pre-Flash? The games ran super quick and rarely failed, once the embedded Flash versions appeared, they failed often and lagged like crazy.

  • Just adding my voice to those sad to see Midas Mahjong not making the cut. It's by far my favourite game and seems always popular so I'm surprised it's not on the list. Oh well, I've enjoyed many many years playing on here and I'll probably get half an hour a day spare now!

  • @Crystal Voyager...POGO is actually bigger and better. They have converted almost all of their games to HTML5 and the site runs wonderfully. It didn't fall apart at all. I spend more time on POGO than here on Royal.

  • @Kyanight thank u 4 your respondse so all the other ones are leaving even card games surely they will add more they are taking away alot of games i like again thank u KYANIGHT

  • Just played the HTML Freerolls. Playing Klondike, the cards you put away get behind the top card instead of on top of it, so you can't see the last card you laid off and Ace Solitaire reacts so slow that I run out of time. Can't finish the game. And that is what we get as of next year.
