New Friend Request
Not out of the woods yet 6/2/11 10:21 PM
My dear friends, I will make this short as I am so exhausted and need an escape from the reality of Ron's condition. i.e. Gonna play some games. He is definitely not out of the woods yet. Day 1 was terrifying in ICU. Ron coded twice and had to be shocked 5 times. He is still bleeding internally and I have lost count of the number of transfusions they have given him. They are keeping him heavily sedated as he pulled out his breathing tube and proceeded to crash very quickly. They had to paralyze him in order to reintubate. Later the same day, his heart went into crash mode and he was shocked several times. The Drs and nurses are wonderful but have been brutally honest with me. Ron has a very very tough road ahead of him. He is a very sick man.But as one Dr said to me, my husband has survived the worst surgery and the longest and most invasive surgery he had ever seen. He said that if Ron could (and did) survive that surgery, he can survive anything else that comes up. He said everything else in comparison to the surgery itself, is just a bump in the road for Ron. As my son Torrey says, Ron's a soldier, he's a warrior, he's a fighter and he will survive. Last night Ron was completely unresponsive to everyone and everything. His mom was talking in his ear and asking him if he knew she was there, no response. The nurse was talking loudly to him with no response. When I got there, I went up and talked quietly into his ear. "Ron it's me, Kathleen. Do you know who I am? He actually opened his eyes and grinned at me through all the tubes! He closed his eyes again and I asked him if he is fighting this for me, if he's going to get well for me. He nodded yes then went back into his deep unresponsive sleep. Thats my man! I know he's going to make it.
Thank you everyone for all your prayers and concerns. Please continue to pray for Ron. I know beyond all doubt that God is listening and He is answering. Today, Ron's a little better than yesterday because God is answering all of our prayers. Tomorrow he will be a little better yet. And someday he will come home again a completely healed man. Praise God for all He has done and all He will do. Praise God for wonderful people like all of you who have lifted Ron up in prayer and prayed without ceasing on his behalf. I love you all and appreciate you more than words could ever say.
