Going Home 9/8/11 10:11 PM
Ron is coming home from the hospital tomorrow. He had surgery on Monday and they found that the underlying tissue above his wound and half way up his back necrotized and basically turned to mush. He was cut alonside his right spine and the dead tissue removed as well as the muscle. They will not be able to fix it as hoped for. He is in much more pain now due to the open wound going up to the middle of his back. Prior to this surgery the wound was below his level of paralysis so he didn't feel pain from it. He will be coming home with Hospice care to manage his pain and to help us out in any way needed. He will be on IV therapy and we will continue to keep his wounds cleaned and packed, but that is all that can be done. It will not heal. It is Rons wish to be in his own home surrounded by his family for what time he does have left. He will be a DNR and will not go back to the hospital for any more treatment. This is his choice and I will honor it, giving him as much love and happiness as I can for as long as God allows. Love, Kathleen
Do you remember telling me that when you worked as a hospice care-giver you would tell people how beautiful heaven will be. I know the pain must feel unbearable but there will be moments you will cherish in the future. I love you guys and ache for you.
Love you both and I know each moment ahead of you will be special. I'm glad he will be home. My prayers for your strength and comfort will not subside. When we are weak, He is strong. "What time I am afraid, I will trust in Thee." Sharon
