New Friend Request
A Beautiful Memorial 10/12/11 12:37 AM
My Dear King Friends, Last night we held a beautiful memorial service for Ron. It was held in my back yard with lovely white lights decorating the patio. The chaplain led us in music and prayers, then some readings from the Bible by my sister Karen and a poem by Ron's sister. More music then a time of remembrance. I was blessed, comforted, healed and renewed as person after person got up and spoke of what Ron meant to them. Even some of my grandchildren both big and small stood up, teary eyed and poured out their souls about how much their Grandpa meant to them. It was such a blessing to me. After another song,"On the Wings of an Eagle" by John Denver, we proceeded to an area of the yard where my son Josh had prepared a small memorial area with a large hole dug deep in the center. My brother Mike, had built a beautiful cross and it too stood in the memorial ground. I told everyone that we were planting a tree in memory of Ron. I sprinkled 1/2 of his ashes in the bottom of the hole, then two of my boys helped me put a small lemon tree that we had purchased earlier, into the hole. My Grandkids each put one shovel full of soil and in with the tree, then many other people wanted to put a shovel full in as well. I spoke of how Ron's tree, with his ashes will grow and produce fruit (and of course lemonade for the Grandkids.) It will always be there to remind us of him and it will be a sanctuary for me to go to and meditate, pray and talk to Ron when I need to. We will plant flowers around it and eventually put in a garden bench. The chaplain read some more scripture "ashes to ashes and dust to dust" and we all went back to the patio. The service was finalized with a song that I said would be Ron's song to all of us. Especially for the grandchildren I asked them to think of Grandpa Ron as they listened and know that this is what Ron would say to all of us at this time: "Don't Cry for Me" by Libby L. Allen. I don't think there was a single dry eye during that song. lol
I'm writing the words for all of you because I know how special Ron had become to so many of you. I hope it comforts you the way it did me. Don't cry for me, Don't shed a tear.
I've been set free, no need to fear.
God spoke to me, my time had come.
He made a way to bring me home.
Don't cry for me. My pain is gone forever.
Don't cry for me, My bodies been made whole.
Don't cry for me. We'll soon be back together.
Don't cry for me. I'm well within my soul.
I saw the light. I took His hand.
We flew all night, to the promised land.
My soul lives on, in a better place
With all His glory. With all His grace.
Don't cry for me, my pain is gone forever.
Don't cry for me, my bodies been made whole.
Don't cry for me. We'll soon be back together.
Don't cry for me. I'm well within my soul.
My pain is gone. Please understand.
My passing was in God's great plan.
I'm with you still each day and night.
Just close your eyes, I'll hold you tight.
Don't cry for me. My pain is gone forever.
Don't cry for me. My bodies been made whole.
Don't cry for me. We'll soon be back together,
Don't cry for me. I'm well within my soul.
I'm in your heart. I feel your pain.
Don't give up hope. Our love remains.
I'll wait for you at Heaven's door
We'll meet again one day for sure.
Don't cry for me. My pain is gone forever.
Don't cry for me. My bodies been made whole.
Don't cry for me we'll soon be back together.
Don't cry for me. I'm well within my soul.
Don't cry for me. Don't shed a tear.
I've been set free. No need to fear.
Don't cry for me. My pain is gone forever.
Don't cry for me. My bodies been made whole.
Don't cry for me. We'll soon be back together.
Don't cry for me. I'm well within my souls.
Don't cry for me...
I'm well within my soul.
And I, too, am well within my soul. I woke up this morning and didn't cry. Hallelujah!! I went out to Ron's tree and just sat with him and the Lord for awhile. Such a blessing.
In the Springtime, I am going to Colorado where we will have a church service with our dearest friends there. Cedaredge was the place Ron loved most in the world. He always said he wanted to be brought back there and his ashes spread over the Grand Mesa. So, I will honor that wish and take him home to Colorado. If you have a chance, please lookup online "On the wings of an Eagle" by John Denver. If you listen to that, you'll know who Ron was and you'll know why I am taking the second half of his ashes to those mountains. I'll keep half of him here with me and I'll give the other half back to the mountains that he loved.
Now, I just want to say thank you to all of you. I know I've said it before but I need to say it again. Thank you for all of your love and support and prayers throughout the last several months of Ron's life. You all sustained me through the most trying time of my life. You were always there, encouraging me when I didn't think I could go another day. When I didn't think I could endure another setback. You are true friends in every sense of the words...Thank you all so very very much. You will always hold a very special place in my heart. Love, Your sister in Christ and friend forever, Kathleen
