For My Mountain Man 9/7/12 9:40 PM

Last year at this time, my beloved Ron was fighting for his life. He wanted to live so badly. He talked about all the things we were going to do together when he got better. Ron fought to stay alive up to his very last breath. I'm not saying that he was afraid of dying. He wasn't. He just felt that he had so much living left to do. Ron's biggest love, outside of his family, was nature. He loved the mountains and all the beauty within them, that was God's creation. Some of the best times we shared together were up in the mountains of Colorado and Arizona. He loved to pitch our tent (yes, he could do it even though he was in a wheelchair) spread a blanket on the ground, and just listen to the quiet. He loved cooking over a camp fire and cuddling up together in a sleeping bag trying to stay warm at night. He could gaze in wonder at the stars for hours without speaking a word.
Ron was a giant in my eyes. Even though he had lost his legs, he appreciated life so much more than most. He always said he wasn't handicapped. just physically challenged. I felt safe with him, whether we were camping in the mountains or tucked in bed at home. I miss him so very much. Rest in peace my beloved.
Ron died on September 23rd, 2011. In honour of him, I've turned my castle into his kingdom for the remainder of the month. He used to love watching me play games here at King and he always said that if he could have a castle, it would be a tent. So for Ron, here's your castle my love. I will think of you every time I see it. I will remember all the beautiful moments I shared with you, my beautiful Mountain Man.

One of my fondest memories of your beloved husband Ron, and my beloved brother-in-law, was driving up to Mt. Lemmon when all of us spent the day together, sis. Ron looked more relaxed then I'd ever seen him. I could see his love for God and nature up there in those mountains. He's in good hands now.

I'll never forget walking into your room and finding him brushing your hair while watching you play. It is one of those times where I really have to open my mind and eyes and ears to see God's plan in this. I feel blessed to have met you both. See you soon.

Kathleen, I see that you celebrate Ron's life both here in the flesh and there in the spirit. They are never really 'gone' and because we know that with all our being we can have a smile cross our face while remembering and those around us don't know what brings us such joy. Love you, Sharon
