Welcome to the Roving ClubHouse, a BIG Thank You to Barb for her hosting duties that she performs so well, Love ya Sis ♥♥
Well summer is here, kidlets out of school time for summer trips and vacations. Some go nice and smooth and some go like one of mine did.
This was to be a wonderful camping and fishing trip for my family (Hubby, son & 4 dogs). Had my check list to ensure we wouldn’t forget anything seeing we were going to be there for a week.
Had our reservation in a lovely camping area called West Point Lake, each camp site was set up with a large pad for your tents and they also provided you with a large grill, canopy and table.
So we get everything packed in the truck, dogs and me in the car and off we go. The drive is around 1.5 hours to get there. Traffic was great got there without a hitch.
Arrival, 1st thing to do is set up the dog kennel, hubby and I start on this with our son playing with the dogs (who are a little crazy at this point from the ride in the car and they want to run) were almost finish when 2 of the dogs get loose and running all over the camp area, barking and chasing other peoples dogs (son trying hard to restrain the other on their leashes) I’m ready to kill them. Finally catch the little bees and I’m ready to load them back in the car and go home but we’re here for fun and relaxation. (Fine way to start)
Next is the tent, we have a large tent that will sleep 12 people or 3 people and 4 dogs. Moving on, an hour later the tent’s up, beds inflated (me don’t do sleeping bags) lights hung. Perfect.
Time to take a walk to the water, we have one of the best sites here, from our camp site you walk maybe 200 feet and your feet are in the water, just lovely. The boys get set to do some fishing and me, I go about making something to eat . The rest of the day was great. The weather was beautiful, not to hot and with a nice breeze.
Breakfast over and clean up, I head to water to catch some sun, what a day, water felt wonderful(hope I didn't over do it) but I’m ready to do a bit of fishing myself so I start to run back to our camp site to get my pole.
As I was running up the path I guess not really watching where I was going, I tripped and hit my head on a tree trunk and split my head open, geez that hurt. So I’m yelling for hubby I’m sitting there hand on my head blood running down my arm.
We leave our son at the site and make our way to find a hospital. A few hours later we’re back and I have 6 staples in my head.
It’s still early evening, the boys go back to fishing I go about dinner. And hopefully I get to fish some.
At last, I get my line in the water, catching some nice crappies (hubby & son have been doing really well) when hubby gets a really big bite on his line and yells for me to get the net as I jump up to grab it from behind him his line snaps his pole swings back and hits me right between my eyes and knocks me on my arse, ouch.
Enough fishing for me today, I head back to camp to read a bit and put an ice pack on my face and realize I have a nice sunburn.
It’s turning dark and starting to sprinkle a bit so the boys come back to camp, when hubby looks at me and says holly sh*t, I said what? He ask if I had looked at my face, no. So I do and wonderful, I’m not getting 1but 2 black eyes. What a wonderful day.
I gather the dogs and head to the tent as the rain is getting heavier, the boys take take of the pole, iced the fish and followed. We enjoyed a little TV and called it a night.
A few hours later we’re in the middle of really bad storm. (geez) the loud thundering and lightning are scaring the dogs then the worse thing, the damn tent starts leaking right above our bed, we move the bed and try to sleep.
Day break, the floor of the tent has about an inch of water, the dogs are wet and it’s still pouring down rain. What a way to start a vacation, I have staples in my head, 2 black eyes, a sunburn, a tent that leaks, wet dogs, all in the first 24 hours.
Please share some of your best or worse vacations ☺♥☺

I must be doing something wrong because I just can't get that cut and paste trick to work.
OK Mom, I tried it and it worked:-)))))) Yea me ♥♥♥
I’ve tried this trick when I heard the tip on someone else’s blog and it didn’t work for me. I’m going to try it again and see if I can get it to work this time. It would be really nice if it does work. I wonder if it would work for the blog owner’s comments too? I can see I’ve missed some real ad
I love the stories people are sharing here. My most exciting thing was a snake and a axe later, no snake. Sorry snake lovers but to me the only good snake is a dead snake, can’t stand them, they give me the creeps. Never had the chance to see a wild bear or moose but then again, don’t think I want to either, well not up close and personal, LOL The thought of a baby bear laying up against me like that, I would have peed my pants and been screaming like a banchie, mama bear would have attacked me or ran away. I would hope for the lateral. Then the park ranger would come and there I would be standing with my pissy pants and him/her trying not to laugh at me. That would be my luck, LMAO
If anyone wants to know how to get soooo many words into the little box..just type up your story as a Word Doc & copy n' paste to the CH blog...another poster explained that's how she did it & I thought I'd give it a try..whew sure looks "windy"..lol
Great tip, thanks for sharing it, I'll have to give that a try ☺♥☺
Mrs G your bear stories remind me of our familys 1st one w/bears. We(me & 2 of my kids) were backpacking in the outbacks of Yellowstone w/a 5 day permit. Carried everything in, hung bear bells on our packs. 1st night we camped by a beautiful lake, watched moose grazing peacefully in a bog nearby, hung our packs high in a tree, ate &packed away any food. I washed dishes at night by moonlight in the lake. Soon we put out the campfire & headed into our little 3 person tent. I heard noise during the night, like something huge was rifflying our camp, snorts, a mama black bear & 2 cubs had joined us. We lay perfectly still in our tent, barely daring to breath. The noises continued. It sounded like thunder & the ground seems to quiver. I drifted off to sleep.so did a cub that lay against the side of me outside the tent part of the night. I never moved an inch..lol. The next morn we counted ourselves lucky until we also saw all the moose tracks all over our site. They’d stamped everything they could find, including our dead fire! Needless to say we hiked back out, turned in our 5 day overnight permit & toured the rest of Yellowstone by car with short hikes in…I’m such a chicken! The Ranger asked us if we had seen a mama bear w cubs on our hike, we said no, but we did “feel” 1 of her cubs..lol. My kids talk about the bears even today& how territorial moose are. lol
Wow, you ladies do attract a lot of bears, lol I think, I would have done the same as you ☺ Lions, Mooses and Bears, Oh my. LOL ☺☺☺
OK I'll be back later. Have another one for you if I can "hog the blog" a bit more. Did I just coin a new term ??????
Hog away sweetness :-))) Can't wait for your next adventure ♥
tramp will always be term of endearment.(and lisa is indeed a lady!) charlie chaplin character. david carradine as woody guthrie in bound for glory. keane even trying to evoke a sense of the tarnished american pastoral on strangeland tour. tho joe strummer did it better. at least looks the part!
Does that you the tramp my dear friend:-)))) xx
