New Friend Request
Countdown! 4/28/11 3:28 PM
My dear friends, The time has come that we have been waiting for. Ron's surgery is this Monday. We will check into the hospital at 5:00am for preop. The surgery will begin at 7:00am. It will take at least 8 hours. As I think most of you know, the surgeons are doing a surgery that has never been done before on anyone. They have designed a graft especially for Ron and will be using it to bypass the aneurysm completely. They will go in just below his heart, use the graft to go around the aneurysm and connect to all his major organs from there. The hope is that the blood will pool in the aneurysm and eventually clot causing the aneurysm to stop growing and eliminating the threat of rupture. Also, his kidneys, liver, abdomen, etc. will get sufficent blood flow. The biggest risk is paralysis because his spinal canal will be without blood flow for a period of time during the surgery. This surgery is a lot less life threatening than the original but still very scary, especially for me. Ron has faith that it will be successful and he will finally be able to get on with his life. I am terrified. Please pray for a successful surgery. You have all been there for me through this whole ordeal and I appreciate that so much. Hopefully and prayerfully this will put an end to all the anxiety and stress as well as giving Ron his life back.Nothing in this world would make me happier.
For all of you who have worn the rising sun bandanna in support of Japan, I thank you. I will be removing mine today. In support of Ron, I will once again wear the cowboy hat that he loves so much. He told me last night that he misses it (funny how you grow to love an avatar.) But for him, the cowboy hat goes back on!
I love you all so much and I thank you for all the love and support you have shown us. I will post the results of the surgery after it is over and Ron is recuperating in the hospital. All my love to all of you, Kathleen
