One Tough Cowboy 6/27/11 10:15 PM

Ron had a graft put on his pressure ulcer today. It was made out of skin from a cow. He wrote me a note about it and I wanted to share it with you. It said "Now I am really a cowboy! Yee Haa!!" It will graft with his own skin and become a permanent part of him. They also turned off the ventilator today and as long as he does good tonight, he will be moved out of ICU tomorrow. Double YeeHaa!! He was approved to eat ice chips today. First solid anything in 4 weeks! Tomorrow they will start him on real food (applesauce, jello, etc.) He was hoping for steak and coffee but will have to wait awhile longer for that. He will also begin physical therapy tomorrow to help him learn how to live with the paralysis. All in all, he's doing great and I am so pleased with all the progress. I am so proud of him because he is one tough cowboy and his will is so strong. But we are both very aware of the fact that he could never have gotten this far without God, without all the prayers. So much of his recovery we owe to all of you. Thank you my loving family and friends!!!
