Another Step Backwards 7/26/11 12:22 AM

Well, he won't be home for at least a couple of weeks. His breathing issues are not resolved and his heart has been going in and out of atrial fibrillation since last night. Whenever they try to take him off pressurized oxygen his saturation rate falls drastically and quickly. Seems he's taken another step backwards. I was afraid this was going to happen when he had his last surgery. They are going to start putting him in a hyperbaric chamber as of tomorrow. Apparently he will receive 100 % pure oxygen (I'm not sure for how long or how often). It is supposed to help improve his blood flow and greatly benefit the healing of his wounds. He's very claustrophobic though and I am concerned that he won't be able to stay in it. I'm really not sure how it works, but will keep you posted as I learn more. So continued prayers would be very much appreciated. BTW, I am able to set up my laptop in his room now which is a blessing, as he sleeps so much of the time. It helps relieve the boredom. I can at least play some games while he's sleeping! Love you all. Kathleen

My prayers are with you both. All I know about 100% oxygen is that bacteria cannot grow in that atmosphere. Also, maybe there is a way you can set up a 'visual distance scene' he can view and not focus on the small space. Love ya, Sharon
